Sport psychology services aim to assist athletes, coaches, families, trainers, and other stakeholders in developing an understanding of self/athlete to best equip that athlete with the tools for mental performance including motivation, mental health training, and other aspects that impact an individuals life day to day. These services aim to assist in developing the whole athlete through research-based practices.
This is an evaluation to help assist an athlete learn about their functioning, strengths in ability to learn and execute tasks, an understanding of how to advocate for tools and coaching strategies that will assist them in acquiring information, etc. As a result of the evaluation, recommendations are derived for the athlete, coaches/trainers, and family. Typical assessments include cognitive, executive functioning, social emotional, and academic testing in listening, math, reading, etc. Communication is assessed as well as levels of comprehension.
This is a service for coaches to learn how to implement athlete-focused practices including communication styles, groupings within instruction/practice, reviewing film procedures, etc. Coaching development also includes educating coaches on the impact of mental health, how to address mental health, the warning signs, etc. Creating a culture of acceptance and understanding will build team cohesion.
This is a service to address athletes concerns related to performance. Counseling can include tools and strategies to increase awareness and decrease the impact of various mental health concerns including performance-based barriers, anxiety, depression, lack of self-esteem, lack of communication, etc.
This is a service to increase team cohesion, effective communication styles, leadership development, etc.
